Have you ever been so bored in your life?
That despite numerous interests and personal life goals, you can’t seem to choose which is the ONE for you. You start things you feel you’re passionate about and yet you couldn’t bear working on that one thing consistently. You’re driven but often distracted. And sometimes in the heap of the moment you find yourself stuck, confused and uninspired.
Well, consider yourself a Whatever Babe in training!
Yes, you heard it right.
Whatever Babe does not only pertain to the messed up writer behind this blog. Whatever Babe is a community of creatives seeking to find meaning in the random distractions in life.
I’m a multi-passionate Gemini. In years, I have struggled to achieve balance between my two-faced personality. To paint a picture: One wants to be a humble achiever and the other one wants to be a professional slacker. One dreams of being the star of the show and the other one just wants to stay in the backstage. One dreams of mastering a thousand skills at a certain period of time and the other one is just simply distracted.
To want so many things in life and yet master the art of focus is one thing I simply cannot do consistently. I love drawing, yet the thought of doing it on a regular basis scares the living shit out of me. I love writing, yet the thought of getting occasional creative blocks makes my head want to explode.
To put it bluntly, I’m a clutter brain.
I want to focus on something that interests me. However, I cannot ignore these so-called distractions in life.
If you’re screaming at the screen right now
telling me to go fuck off because this is so you,
then you’ve indeed come to the right place.
If somehow my blog was able to interest just a millisecond of your attention, then that must mean you were meant to visit my site. Plus who knows, you might get something out of it.
That’s how my mind usually works with little distractions.
I give in easily because I believe it wouldn’t be there to distract me if I didn’t need it in the first place. It’s like the universe talking to you–dropping hints here and there. I’d hate missing any of it. Although oftentimes, things seem random and unimportant, there will come a time when it may prove to be helpful.
You’ll look back and thank the heavens you accidentally forgot to save your article before your laptop crashed. If that didn’t happen, then you wouldn’t learn that it’s better to write and edit stuff on a cloud-based platform next time. If you didn’t reply to that random guy who decided to chat with you in the middle of your intense studying, you wouldn’t be walking down the isle reminiscing the way you both first talked to each other. I know that one sounded crazy but who knows, right?
If you live life the way a horse wears a blinder,
you wouldn’t be able to see the bigger picture
and the limitless options before you.
And that is why I created Whatever Babe in the first place. I wanted to share this kind of mentality with other fellow creatives: You can achieve anything you want. You can be whatever you want to be. And the best is that you can still bask in the fun and random surprises in life.
Yes, it’s possible. Yes, we fucking can.
Whatever Babe’s mantra is “Embracing the randomness of life” or in other words, cherishing the unexpected plot twists of life (I’ve been battling with these two for my tagline). After going through a bunch of mishaps in life, I have learned to chase after the things I want but still remain guided by life’s teeny little hints of what’s important and what’s not worth it. This means being open to whatever life offers you. This means paying attention to life’s little distractions.
Whatever Babe seeks to close the gap between pointless distractions and actually using that monkey-mind energy to chase after your multiple interests. This blog has grown from a mere boredom buster into a purposeful website that continues to delight and inspire.
In this blog, I’ll be sharing a ton of helpful articles pertaining to blogging and design, but I’d still share a few other random articles that might brighten up your day in one way or another.
