If there’s one feng shui element that keeps all the other elements grounded and maintains a sense of stability in the home, it’s got to be the Earth Element. Ground-ed. Get it?
Ever wonder why Mother Earth is a mother and not a father? It’s because the earth element appeals to the strong, nurturing female energy and like a mother, it also serves as the heart of the home, that warm and cozy vibe that makes a home feel homey. It’s also one of the most predominant elements found on a man-cave type of room design.
Important Notes on the Earth Element
STABILITY. Figure out in which specific area in your life that you need to feel the greatest sense of security and energy. Be it love, work or family, it’s great to place earth elements in the room to encourage energies for your specific purpose. For example, in the living room where family activities are usually held or the office where productivity is very important. The Earth element enhances focus and clears away a lot of distractions.
BEIGE, SANDY and TAUPE. Earth element colors are usually the neutrals, or the color of rock, sand and anything else on the natural floor. These colors act as bases and enables other colors to pop.
SQUARES. A square is the most stable shape. That’s why most tiles are in square. Rectangles and other geometrical symbols are also okay so long as there is symmetry with the sides.
BOUNDARIES. Earth elements keep energies in one place. It also helps separate rooms with different levels of energy as well as redirect the flow of energy from one room to another.
