Holly Spring is an amazing fantasy photographer from New Zealand blessed with an adorable daughter, Violet, and although her daughter may not have a perfect set of limbs, she has managed to reach throughout the world and touch the hearts of many.
The early days of Violet have been a struggle. Aside from her missing left hand, she was also a victim of Hirschprung’s disease. Hirschprung’s disease is a congenital anomaly in the colon that manifests in the child not being able to pass stool properly and may therefore cause toxic body waste to build up from the inside. This is a medical condition that requires immediate intervention through surgery.
It’s quite emotional for a mother to deal with this kind of situation but Holly turned every dilemma her 4-year old daughter had through inspirational and whimsical photography, where she also won the NZIPP/ Epson Iris Portrait Creative Photographer of the Year Award 2014.
Holly Spring Photography has since then become an outlet of creativity and positive energy for mother and daughter, Holly and Violet. Through these photos, and hopefully more to come, they have created a powerful statement that one beautiful picture can influence one’s view in life, that any childhood struggle can become a fairy tale.
“My daughter is my muse and my heart that inspires me to follow my passion and share these unique photos and digital art with you,” says Holly.
There was a change of limb in this photo of Violet and the giraffe, to which Holly says is for creative purposes. This was her winning piece.
