One of my New Year goals was to create an Instagram account. Yah I know, hilarious and a sign of growing older and being late with everything in. I’ve never been into an app that’s a little bit of Facebook but more focused on photos, because there’s Facebook for that (duh). On a technical sense, it’s like why go to a mini-mart when there’s a grocery just beside it? However, I got to appreciate Instagram more when I started having more friends and liked pages in Facebook because the feed just got so messy and there were days that my mind is simply craving for some visual inspiration.
It has been a few months now and I like Instagram, but there’s a certain pattern to what people keep on posting. Joanna Zhou, creator of Maqaroon (an ultra kawaii online shop), noticed that too and drew these illustrations that is a major truthbomb to what people like posting and possibly what people like seeing on Instagram. Elitedaily calls it A Basic Bitch’s Instagram, which may come across as negative, but I’m not gonna lie; a basic bitch’s life is so damn fun that it encompasses the majority of pictures people put up on Instagram. Maybe it’s not vanity but rather a visual appreciation of life (depending on the person, of course). Take a look and be your own Instagram account judge.
Proud to be a basic bitch yet?
Btw, if you’re into making kawaii stuff, make sure to subscribe to Maqaroon’s Youtube channel for very easy DIY tutorials.
