Hello weekend! Yesterday, Mix and I went around the University of the Philippines inquiring about the Bachelor of Science in Interior Design course, its admission process, requirements and if there are any available scholarship grants. Damn it was my first time to roam around UP and it was exhausting as hell!
And to think I haven’t got myself a good rest yet, we had to go back and forth from building to building, under the scorching summer sun. I found myself literally dragging my body around with my slowly depleting will power. However, the effort is totally rewarding because
1. There are available scholarships for second degree holders.
2. They credit subjects you have previously taken (Goodbye, College algebra and PE!)
3. The staff were very accommodating.
4. There are ice cream vendors everywhere!
5. Enrollment starts on June 1. 1 month to go.
Also, since I have a few months before classes start, I still have time to study interior design concepts beforehand. Interior design is a visual course and as a visual learner, I simply love learning from colorful infographics. If you’re also interested in learning the basics of interior design, here’s the basic principles of Interior Design with Color Psychology and 2014 trends, condensed in a lovely infographic by Old Plank Road Antiques.
I’m getting a little mixed emotions about entering a university again, but I guess that’s normal for everyone who decides to take another road in their career path. I love nursing. The work is rewarding in so many ways but when it comes to career growth and personal development, it’s not something I see myself 10 to 30 years in the future.
I have always been into arts but somehow I chose the nursing course partly because there were no art schools in the province and also to challenge and prove to myself that I can be successful in the impulsive decisions I make. I really hope and pray that in taking this course, I’ll be able to get a job without worrying about nepotism and the continuously decreasing demand for the profession I have chosen, build my own business in the long run and live the life I want.
